Chance The Rapper, along with The Empowerment Plan Detroit, has started a fundraising project in Chicago. The two forces are working together to raise $100,000 to produce 1,000 EMPWR coats for Chicago’s homeless.
The EMPWR coats are water-resistant and self-heating jackets that turn into sleeping bags.
Not only are they being produced for the homeless, but homeless people are hired to help manufacture these costs as well.
They’re also really nice looking coats! They also fold into over-the-shoulder bags when they’re not being used.
Considering the fact that 7% of homeless people die from hypothermia, this is a great project that is predicted to save at least 14 lives.
So far, over $85,000 has been raised. Not that far away from the $100,000 goal.
