This past week has been an eventful week in New York. Quite a few Chicagoans were able to be a part of the festivities that have been going on in the “Big Apple”.
Surely, everyone knows about New York Fashion Week (NYFW). In case one doesn’t know, it’s a semi-annual series of fashion events that generally last about 7-9 days. It’s held in February and September each year. Many different fashion designers show their products off to a gang of people: celebs, press, and the general public.
The first day of NYFW, Kanye West (@kanyewest) debuted his highly anticipated Yeezy Season 3 line at Madison Square Garden. On top of Yeezy’s clothing line debut, the show was also Ye’s listening party for most recent album “The Life of Pablo”.
Chicago’s very own Blake Martin (@mrblakemartin) was among the few partaking in the NYFW festivities. He and some of his models were a part of a couple different shows.
Also, Jeffery Hawkins (@vuittonprince), one of Chicago’s designers, presented his brand LLEWELLYN in this month’s NYFW.
Larry McGhee (@asianzues_), a Chicago photographer, was also in New York for NYFW.
Aside from fashion, Yeezy also turned up New York with his SNL performance on Saturday. Ye brought out many other artists that are featured on TLOP: Kelly Price (in which I haven’t heard from since 2014), The Dream (who has also been M.I.A. for a while), El Debarge, Young Thug, Kirk Franklin, and another Chicago native, ChanceTheRapper (@chancetherapper).
Kanye performed two tracks off of TLOP, Highlights and Ultra Light Beam. ChanceTheRapper delivered what is said to be his best verse thus far on Ultra Light Beam. Yeezy definitely took SNL to church.

Be sure to follow Blake Martin for more about his productions. It is worth noting that he has a Fashion Show coming up this April.
